Chennai Food Bank (CFB) an ISO 9001 : 2015 certified, a project of RYA Madras Metro Trust , formed by Rajasthan Youth Association Metro (RYA METRO), is a not for profit social service organization “Working For A Hunger Free World“ providing Food Grains to more than 60 orphanages, old age homes, homes for handicapped and mentally challenged. We are in the path of service for the past 27 years distributing more than 12000 kg of Food Grains , feeding more than 15000 people and 2000 animals every month. The Food Grains distributed in the last 26 years has crossed well beyond 3 crores meals.

Apart from distributing food grains, Chennai Food Bank (CFB) has always been in the forefront of service to mankind, not only on a day to day basis, but always rose to the call, during natural calamities. This is another such day when we understand the hardship faced by people, mainly the medical staff at government hospitals, daily wage laborers, homeless and migrant workers, stranded due to the lockdown, following the COVID-19 crisis.

Chennai Food Bank has activated 4 networks to help the needy in these testing times. One being serving lunch to 340 medical staff at Omanadur Government multi Speciality General Hospital and around 200 odd doctors and paramedics at Royapettah General Hospital, and the second one being, food to the homeless and stranded migrant workers in around 12 night shelters in the city, serving around 4000 people two meals a day, in coordination with Corporation of Chennai.

Chennai food bank has been doing this for the past 30 days and is committed to provide lunch and dinner for 3000 such people each day for the next few days.

Apart from the above we have also been serving buttermilk to around 3000 police personnel on duty around the city in coordination with office of the Commissioner of Police. CFB also organised a ration and essentials kit distribution drive logistically supported by Indian Red Cross Society, TN chapter, We distributed around 1200 kits containing Rice, pulses, cooking oil, seasoning and essentials. The drive was flagged of by collector of Chennai Smt R Seethalakshmi. 100 kits were also distributed to migrant labourers stranded in the city.
